Awkwafina

Awkwafina is an American actor and performer who began her career with clever raps that tackled gender and ethnic identities from a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew into Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came via trumpet. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew in her teen years. While in the school, she focused on journalism and woman's studies. She studied Mandarin briefly in Beijing. She didn't start focusing on music until the time she completed her degree. The track My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity on the Internet in 2012. It eventually made it in the album debut Yellow Ranger released in 2014. Some other hits that went viral included queef, a body positive song and the winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in the year 2015, and was an additional initiative. The singer decided to make acting as a profession after completing her first two projects, as an author and musician. In addition to early shows like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films such as Neighbors and Storks. In 2018, she landed several breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
